Give Me A Lever Long Enough...

Warning: The following question can be frustrating for those who believe business has to be hard work.

But… ‘What if it was easy?” Because the truth is that it doesn’t actually have to be hard.

The Greek philosopher, Archimedes, said, “Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it, and I shall move the world.”

You know, quotes like that don’t stick around for thousands of years if they don’t really nail it.

Here’s an example from my own life.

When I was younger, my dad would give me a list of chores like fixing the fence, painting a wall, or doing yard work. But instead of doing it all myself, I would invite my friends over for lunch, and swimming and all we had to do first was take care of some chores while having some drinks and listening to music. Not a bad deal, right?

It was always a fun day for everyone because we got to be physical, socialize, feel good about completing a project together, and then party afterward.

Of course, in essence, I was leveraging my relationships to handle my chores, but I was doing it in a way that made it easier, faster and deepened my friendships.

There are tons of creative ways to do this in business, but most people resign themselves to a life of stress and overwhelm because they think they have to grind it out all by themselves.

If you feel burnt out and struggling, maybe you just need a little help stepping away from your old stories and discovering your version of Archimedes' lever. Seriously. Who says it can’t be a party? Let’s find your inspiration.
