Use Inspiration By Design to Get Inspired and Stay Inspired!

"Look for what lights you up and do more of that. The moments where we feel lit up and inspired are clues to what we're supposed to be doing more of in our lives."

Do you ever have one of those days when you would rather stay in bed than get up and go to work? I have been there, and I am sure most people have a day or two where they are just not feeling it. The problem is when this feeling persists day after day after day. That is when you realize this is more than just a rough start.

When we lose our spark, we feel low energy, and we are just going through the motions to make it through the day; we are surely not feeling inspired. Now that doesn't mean anything is wrong. Losing our spark is just part of the human condition. No one will be "on fire" all the time, including me.

I have developed a practice that I call Inspiration by Design to find my spark and stay inspired! Inspiration by Design consists of a few tools to ensure you will stay connected to your spark.

Quarterly: Craft or revisit your personal vision statement and goals. I created a comprehensive map for my clients called the Inspired Road Map that connects them with their values, purpose, vision, and legacy. I recommend blocking off time once a quarter to confirm that you are still aligned with your road map and that your goals still inspire you. A compelling vision will inspire you to move forward with confidence and clarity.

Weekly: Every week, I do a check-in that I call the Weekly Spark. It is a complete game-changer. First, I reflect on last week and preview the week ahead. Then, I ask a few key questions to ensure I am designing a week that will make me feel fulfilled and inspired. For example, have I created enough space next week for self-care? What am I looking forward to during the upcoming week?

Daily: As you get started each day, before you boot up your laptop or check your email, spend a few minutes in what I call the Inspired Start. The Inspired Start consists of a few questions to set your intention for the day. Here are some questions I recommend: What three things am I looking forward to today? What impact do I want to have today? How do I want to feel by the end of the day?

Every Few Hours: As your day gets going and the pressure starts to mount, find 5-10 minutes for an Inspiration Break. An Inspiration Break is a brief pause every few hours throughout your day to check in with yourself and recharge yourself so you can be more intentional. Think of it as a reset for your mind or a chance to catch your breath so you can show up as your best self.
