Is My Plan Not Working Or Just Not Working Yet?

I had the opportunity to get an early read on Dorie Clark’s new book, The Long Game: How to Be a Long-Term Thinker in a Short-Term World, due out on September 21st (You can pre-order now). It is truly fantastic, much like everything she does. I highly recommend this book to anyone navigating a new path or going through the valley and needing some assurance that they are on the right path. When you start a new venture, initiative, or job, you can’t jump in and expect to be an overnight success; you need to start playing the long game. It's about doing small things over time to achieve our goals and being willing to keep at them, even when they seem pointless, boring, or hard. My favorite concept is to cultivate “Strategic Patience.” By researching what it really takes to achieve your goals, recognizing small wins that are early indicators of success, abandoning harmful social comparisons, and appreciating how far you have come rather than continually moving the goalposts. Check it out here.
