When The Student Is Ready

“When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.” 

If you have had the right person show up at just the right time in your life to guide you to the next level, then you know how profound this is experience can be.

However, until we are truly ready for that, it can be like the movie “Groundhog Day,” where the lessons keep repeating over and over and over until we finally get it. 

On my journey to being an executive in the life sciences industry, I remember how frustrated and constrained I felt going into meetings. I had to ask myself every time, “Is this really the way things are? Is this really how the world works?”

Someone recently asked me how many meetings I had been in like that, and I replied, “Oh my gosh, I must have been hundreds!”

But apparently, I had to go through all that to learn my lesson. And then one day, I was hours into another meeting, led by yet another toxic leader, and I finally got that while THIS was not going to change… I could change.

And with that, I walked out, quit my job, and started a whole new life. 

Most people don’t know what a better path could look like for themselves or if there’s even someone out there who could help them. 

Looking back on those days, I wish I had a guide to help me see the possibilities available to me, but it wasn’t until the moment I was finally ready to let someone help me that so many amazing teachers appeared.

Today, when I work with someone who is truly ready, it is so exciting. They know there's something on the other side of all this, and they know there is freedom waiting for them. Guiding people on that journey is one of my greatest joys.
