Is It Time For An Upgrade to Your Human Operating System (HOS)?

photo-1581456495146-65a71b2c8e52

You have heard it before, and I am sure you have said it yourself: "I am so busy. I have way too much I need to do! When I hear this statement (and say it myself), the word that really triggers me is "Do." We constantly feel like we need to be in action; we need to be doing something to make progress. Rest is for the weak; I will sleep when I am dead. Well, here is your wake-up call! We are Human-Beings, not Human-Doings!

As I have been writing my book, I have been thinking a lot about how we n…

Journey to Peru

photo-1568805746970-0bbae56ab18b

Have you ever had the experience of fulfilling a lifelong dream?

I recently checked a big one off my bucket list, and as expected, it was even more profound than I could imagine. After almost 24 hours of travel, I arrived at my destination in Cusco, Peru.

I wanted to know the people, the culture, the land, and the spirit of the place, but most of all, something about Peru's energy had always called to me, and I had to experience it for myself. One of the many highlights was when we woke up at…

Your Environment Shapes You

photo-1544198365-f5d60b6d8190

Did you know that your environment shapes you? There is really no way around it. Our human system is designed to survive (all the way down to our DNA), based on responding to its environment. So, while our home environment shaped us when we were kids, our work environment shapes us as adults. What’s interesting is that when I was very young, I somehow knew this. At around six years old, I started painting. But not dogs or cats or my parents like most kids did. I used my paintbrushes to create ro…

The Superhero Within

photo-1594344041337-0223bd103abe

Many years ago, a friend of mine was competing in a bodybuilding competition. He always seemed like he was in good shape, but when he got on stage (under the lights, all oiled up), I couldn't believe what I was seeing. He looked like he was transformed into someone else, like Clark Kent transforming into Superman.

This was probably about 30 years ago, but I still remember it like it was yesterday. I think there's always been a theme for me of "seeing beyond the quiet disguise to the true superh…

Embrace the Chaos

photo-1534406516536-c34a9683e490

Have you ever consciously chosen to embrace a world of chaos? It sounds like an odd choice, but some time back, I felt compelled to spend a month of my life traveling through India.

India is exotic, mystical, and full of magic! So many great thought leaders come from India.

It is also the land of paradox. Beauty and ugliness. Opulence and starvation. The extremely rich and absolute poor. Plus, extreme comfort and extreme discomfort.

So, it was a leap of faith to jump in and immerse myself in …

The Virtual Campfire: Ozan Varol Getting Where You Want to Be

ozan copy

One of my recent favorite episodes of The Virtual Campfire is my interview with Ozan Varol, "Getting Where You Want To Be."

Ozan is a former rocket scientist, turned award-winning professor, successful blogger, and author of the number one best-selling book Think Like a Rocket Scientist. His interest in science was piqued as a child, and he then worked in academia for many years. Ozan had early childhood experiences growing up in Turkey that shaped his interest in astronomy. He shared how he ov…

Are We There Yet? A lesson in Patience

PeruMountain2

Are we there yet? I feel like the kid in the backseat on a road trip to an unknown destination. The pandemic has been a long ride, and it is testing everyone's patience and resolve. Patience has been a theme that continues to show up in my life, and it was made even more evident during a recent experience I had in Peru. My first adventure in nine months.

I did not make the decision to travel lightly. Before I left, the travel-gods were testing my resolve by throwing many hurdles and challenges …

Everyone Is an Artist

photo-1517697471339-4aa32003c11a

I have been thinking a lot about creativity lately. I have found myself getting into a creative groove during the pandemic. I was a creative child who was nudged into a more practical and lucrative path by well-meaning adults. I have discovered that you can’t block the light of a creative forever; eventually, it has to shine through in one way or another.

The thing with creativity is that it shows up in many different ways. We all have the capacity to be creative in our own arenas. I define cr…

The Wisdom of Horses

photo-1460999158988-6f0380f81f4d

This year, I traveled to Santa Fe, New Mexico, with Rich Litvin and my fellow 4PC (Four Percent Club) coaches. I had a fantastic opportunity to spend time at the EQUUS Ranch to learn from some of the oldest teachers on our planet, horses.

Horses have thrived on the planet for over 56 million years, which is quite remarkable!

It was a fantastic experience to be with these beautiful and majestic creatures. Being an open-minded person, I went into the experience with the right mindset, but I wa…

Come Fly with Me!

I have been thinking a lot about the impact that companies have on our society and how it is time to do better. I recently came across a wonderful example of an organization boldly committing to making an impact, and I’d love to share it with you.

Delta Airlines commits to becoming the first carbon-neutral airline globally: a 10- year commitment to mitigate all emissions from March 2020 forward!

“There is no substitute for the power that travel has to connect people, which our world needs tod…
